Computer Science: NYS Standards Aligned

Students at P.S. 17 explore Computer Science aligned to New York State standards, developing skills in digital literacy, problem-solving, creativity, and responsible technology use. These experiences prepare students for the future while encouraging innovation and critical thinking.

 

Visual Art: PreK-5

At P.S. 17, our Visual Art program inspires creativity, self-expression, and a love of the arts for students in every grade. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media, students explore artistic techniques while learning about diverse artists and cultures from around the world. Art instruction encourages imagination, problem-solving, and confidence, helping students express their ideas in meaningful and creative ways while building skills that support success across all areas of learning.

Robin Hood Library: PreK-5

At P.S. 17, the Robin Hood Library is a vibrant hub for reading, research, and exploration. Students from PreK–5 have access to a wide range of books, digital resources, and age-appropriate materials that support literacy, curiosity, and a love of learning. Through library lessons and independent reading, students develop strong research skills, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for books and knowledge.

Physical Education

At P.S. 17K our school is equipped with a gymnasium staffed by a dedicated, full-time physical education teacher, a spacious indoor gym, and an outdoor playground featuring safe, developmentally appropriate equipment and structured athletic activities. Students participate in physical education classes twice per week and are additionally supported with safe, indoor movement and fitness breaks integrated throughout the school day within their classrooms.
